should的用法

  should的用法

You should help your mother with the housework.

  —How should I know?

  —Ann’s very unhappy.

—Could your wife help us in the office tomorrow?

—Why should she? She doesn’t work for you.

  ■should加完成式:should have done表示“本應(yīng)該做某事,但事實(shí)上卻沒有做”;shouldn’t have done表示“本不該做某事,但事實(shí)上卻做了”。如:

You should have got up earlier.

You shouldn’t have told him about it.

  ■should與ought to的比較

You ought to/should work harder than that.

She ought to/should finish it by next week.

You ought to/should have told him about it earlier.

You oughtn’t to/shouldn’t have wasted time like that.

  (2) should 強(qiáng)調(diào)主觀看法,而 ought to 強(qiáng)調(diào)客觀要求。如:

We ought to go and see my mother in hospital tomorrow, but I don’t think we will.

You shouldn’t run alongside the swimming pool.

如(from www.hxen.com):

He suggested that I should go there.

You ought not to do it.

—Ought he to start now?

—Yes, he ought (to) .

They ought to go now, oughtn’t they?
