1879 年加拿大議會(huì)宣稱11月6日是感恩節(jié)和全國(guó)性的假日。在隨后的年代，感恩節(jié)的日期改變了多次，直到在1957 年1月31日，加拿大議會(huì)宣布每年十月的第二個(gè)星期一為感恩節(jié)。
除了美國(guó)、加拿大，世界上還有埃及、希臘等國(guó)家有自己獨(dú)特的感恩節(jié)，但英國(guó)、法國(guó)等歐洲國(guó)家卻與感恩節(jié)絕緣[3] ，也有學(xué)者倡議設(shè)立“中華感恩節(jié)”，以弘揚(yáng)傳統(tǒng)文化。
